Greetings Seniors Scholarship AwardsSeniors:
If you have received any scholarship awards, please give the Guidance office a copy of the official award letter as soon as possible so you can be recognized at Graduation.Greetings from the Counselor’s Office at Gordon-Rushville High School! The guidance program is a comprehensive, competency based program aimed at assisting all students in achieving academic success. I look forward to serving Gordon-Rushville High School students in the following areas: The guidance program is developmental, sequential, and focused on attainment of specified student outcomes in three domain areas: personal/social development, educational/academic preparation, and career/ occupational planning
Career and College planning which includes: ACT/SAT/PSAT/PLAN/ASVAB testing along with scholarship and award opportunities, financial aid, letters of recommendation and college visit. Students have the opportunity to research career fields and academic majors. Academic advising which includes: Transcript reviews to ensure students are on track to graduate. I meet with students and their parents to develop a course plan and help them with class scheduling. Personal and Social Counseling which includes: Guidance availability for individual counseling for students can be referred by a teacher, parent or self. College applications and scholarships availability is also an important focus. The following are important dates to keep in mind over the next couple of months: • Financial Aid Night: January 11th 2012 Parents and seniors submitting their FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) online can go to www.fafsa.ed.gov to register for your PIN number. Your PIN number is used as your” signature: when you complete the FAFSA. FAFSA cannot be completed until January 1, 2012 but you are able to obtain you PIN before completing the forms. Your senior already has a PIN number and I have them saved in each senior folder incase they have forgotten the number. Grades can be accessed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week via the school website at grmustangs.org. If you need an ID log-in and/or password, please contact the high school office. Parents are also encouraged to contact the teachers if you have specific concerns about grades. Teacher emails are also located on the school webpage. Please remember to have all application forms into the Guidance office at least one week prior to your institutions deadline (if they have one). Guidance is not open over Thanksgiving or Winter break so it is important to have your forms in as soon as possible. Please call or make an appointment to visit if there is anything we can do to help you . The Guidance Office can be reached at 282-1323. |
